Manipal Medical/Engg UG Admissions



Manipal University, Manipal, Karnataka-576104, has invited applications for admissions to the various Under Graduate Programmes at the Institute for 2016-17. 

Courses: 
The courses to which applications have been invited include, MBBS, BDS, BPharm, PharmD and BTech courses.

Eligibility: 
Applicant should be an Indian national. For all courses, except, B Tech, Applicant should have date of birth falling on or before 31.12. 99.

MBBS: 
For admission to the MBBS Programme, applicant should have a pass in 10+2, A level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together. 

Admissions for the General Category will be done on the basis of rank in the All India Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MU-OET) 2016. Only candidates who secure minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in All India Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MU-OET) 2016 will be considered for admissions. Few MBBS seats are reserved for candidates selected by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), Government of Karnataka, Bangalore.

BDS: 
For admission to Bachelor of Dental Surgery, applicant must have a Pass in 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together. Selection will be through Manipal University Online Entrance Test. Applicant should score 50% in the entrance examination. 
 
B Pharm:
For admission to B Pharm, applicant should have a pass in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and English with Mathematics or Biotechnology or Computer Science or Biology as optional subjects. Candidates who have passed 10+2 from National Open School are not eligible for admission under the Pharmacy Act. Selection will be through Manipal University Online Entrance Test. 

Pharm D: 
For admission to the Pharm.D Programme, applicant should have a pass in 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and English with Mathematics or Biology as optional subjects / DPharm or any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India. Candidates who have passed 10+2 from national open school are not eligible for admission under the Pharmacy Act. Selection will be through Manipal University Online Entrance Test. 

B Tech: 
For admission to the B Tech Programmes, applicant should have a pass in 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or any technical vocational subjects as optional subjects with a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the optional subjects. Selection will be Through Manipal University Online Entrance Test. Applicant needs 50% marks to qualify in the Entrance Exam

Those with foreign qualifications will have to obtain the 'Equivalence Certificate' from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi who will equate their qualifications as equivalent to the 10+2 of India. This certificate will have to be submitted at the time of counseling. Students who are qualified with CBSE or ISCE or any other Indian Board qualifications need not submit the equivalency certificate.

Manipal University Online Entrance Test Pattern (MU OET): 
For admission to the MBBS, BDS, BPharm & Pharm.D, (eligibility- Physics, Chemistry, Biology), the online entrance test will be of two and a half hours duration with 200 multiple choice questions (MCQ) from Physics (50 questions), Chemistry (50), Biology (70), English & General Aptitude (30).

For admission to BTech, BPharm & PharmD (eligibility -Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), the test will be of two and a half hours duration and will consist of 200 multiple choice questions (MCQ) from Physics (50); Chemistry (50); Mathematics (70); English & General Aptitude (30).

Applicants need only a working knowledge of computers and a basic ease of use of the mouse and keyboard. The test will be conducted in English. The test consists of multiple choice questions (MCQ type). In this, for each given question, the applicant must choose the right, or the closest, answer from among the choices given. Only one of the given responses is correct or the most appropriate. Applicant needs to click on the button next to the answer. Applicants will be able to navigate and look through the questions. Applicant has to use the pages supplied at the Test Centre for rough work. No paper/s should be taken to the test hall for this purpose. 

Each question carries one mark. A correct answer will be awarded one mark; a wrong answer or unanswered questions will be awarded no marks.

The final score will be displayed on the screen immediately after the completion of the test. The candidate should acknowledge the score in the printout of the score card in the presence of the invigilator.

Applications: 
Applications can be submitted online at https://apply.manipal.edu/mu/admission/indian-students/how-to-apply/apply-step-1.html till 11.03.2016. Applicant may go to the online application page, fill up details, and upload a photograph and a copy of signature. A fee of Rs.2000/- may be paid Online through Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking or by way of a Demand Draft made in favour of Manipal University, payable at Manipal or Udupi. The details should be filled up in the online application form and the Demand Draft must be couriered to ‘Director, Indian Admissions, Room No. 102, Manipal University, Manipal, Karnataka- 576 104. 

Manipal University Online Entrance Test will be held at Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Asansol, Bangalore, Belgaum, Bhillai, Bhopa,,Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Dehradun, Dubai, Ernakulam, Gangtok, Ganjam, Gulbarga, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Kota, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Mangalore, Manipal, Meerut, Mumbai, Nagpur, Noida, Port Blair, Pune, Ranchi, Surat,Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur, Varanasi, Vijayawada, Vizag. 

The days on which one can appear for the online written test will be ascertained on the basis of the total number of applications received for a particular group of courses. If, a large number of applicants have opted for one particular test centre, then the online test will be administered at that test centre on several days. 

Online Test Booking System: 
The online test booking system is a web based online scheduling system available on http://www.manipal.edu. Applicants can check out the test centres there and book for the online test at a centre, date and time of one’s choice. The schedule bookings are done on first-come-first-served basis and are subject to availability. This has to be done after submission of the applications within the stipulated time schedule.

Online Test Booking Password: 
The online test booking password will be sent to the candidate’s email Id given in the application form sufficiently in advance. If applicant does not receive it, he/she should immediately get in touch with the admission office. Once applicant receives the password, it should be kept completely secure and confidential. The online test booking password is the applicant’s sole authentication for the online test and other related transactions.

The online test booking system is available only to those eligible applicants who have submitted their application forms complete in all respects on or before the last date mentioned for the respective courses. While booking ye test schedule, applicant may ensure that he/she has a photocopy of the submitted application form and online test booking password. A slot once booked cannot be changed under any circumstances. In case of non-availability of slots in a centre of one’s choice, applicant may choose to book a slot in an alternate centre. If, for any reason, a test centre has to be cancelled, applicants opting for the cancelled centre will be allotted another centre. The admission office Manipal University will inform each applicant of their new centre well in advance. A confirmation mail will be sent to the email address after the applicant has booked his/her schedule through the Online Test Booking System. 

An applicant is allowed to take a second attempt if she/he is not satisfied with his/her performance in the first test. The best of two scores is considered for the merit list. The applicant has to again pay the entrance test fee for the Online Test Booking System and book the available slot for the second test. The payment option for the second test will be enabled in the Online Test Booking System only after the applicant has taken the first test. There is provision for a 3rd attempt and the same is applicable only to those candidates who have taken the 1st and 2nd attempt. The applicant has to again pay the entrance test fee for the Online Test Booking System and book the available slot for the third test. The payment option for the third test will be enabled in the Online Test Booking System only after the applicant has taken the second test.

MU-OET for admission to MBBS, BDS, BTech, BPharm, PharmD courses, will be held from 11.04.2016 to 18.05.2016 for the 1st and 2nd attempts and on 21.05.2016 for the 3rd attempt. Results will be available on 26.05.2016

Applicants are required to book their examination slots in http://www.manipalotbs.com between 21.03.2016 and 28.03.2016 for the 1st and 2nd attempts. Test booking can be done for the third attempt, between 19.05.2016 & 20.05.2016. The online test booking system will not allow an applicant to book a slot after the booking end date has passed. 

e-hall ticket: 
The system generates the e-hall ticket 24 hours after the candidate has booked the schedule through the online test booking system. The e-hall ticket will have the e-hall ticket number, the course/s applied for, address of the test centre, and the date and time of the test. It is issued to applicants who book their slots using the online test booking system before the booking end date for respective courses as per the booking schedule. Candidate will get the e-hall ticket for downloading from www.manipalotbs.com, by specifying the application form number and online test booking password. A copy of the e-hall ticket will also be emailed to the applicant. The e-hall ticket will not be sent via post or fax. 

Applicant should take two printouts of the e-hall ticket on A4 size paper, only and check that all the information on the e-hall ticket is clearly legible, especially the photograph and signature. No applicant will be permitted to appear for the test without a valid e-hall ticket. The e-hall ticket must be preserved and produced at the time of counselling/admission. 

On the day of the test, while reporting to the test centre, applicant need to bring two copies of the e-hall ticket, one photocopy of the application form and any one of Passport/Driving License/EC Voter ID card/IT PAN card or School/College photo-bearing ID card for photo identification.
