NCHM JEE 2016: Apply by April 11



Kochi: National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has invited applications for NCHM JEE 2016 for admission to B.Sc Hospitality and Hotel Administration Programme. The council will conduct the NCHM Joint Entrance Exam (NCHM-JEE) on April 30, 2016 (Saturday). 

The Council regulates academics for B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration and nine other structured courses of study that are imparted at the existing 21 Central Institutes of Hotel Management, 19 State Government Institutes of Hotel Management, 01 Public Sector Undertaking and 13 Private Institutes of Hotel Management affiliated with NCHMCT. 

The Bachelor of Science program in Hospitality and Hotel Administration is offered jointly by the National Council for Hotel Management and the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The Three-Year (Six Semester) course equips students with all the required skills, knowledge and attitude to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the Hospitality sector. The program also involves in-depth laboratory work for students to acquire required knowledge and skill standards in the operational areas of Food Production, Food & Beverage Service, Front Office Operation and House Keeping. It also provides managerial inputs in Hotel Accountancy, Food Safety & Quality, Human Resource Management, Facility Planning, Financial Management, Strategic Management, Tourism Marketing and Management. 

Eligibility for admission 
Qualifying examination:
A pass in 10+2 system of Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent with English as one of the subjects. Candidate must have passed English as a subject of study (core/elective/functional) in the qualifying examination.

Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination can also appear in JEE 2016 on provisional basis. Provisional admission will stand cancelled if proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) is not submitted at the time of counselling or at the time of admission or latest by 30.09.2016

The offer of admission is subject to verification of original certificates/documents at the time of admission. If any candidate is found ineligible at a later date even after admission to an Institute, his/her admission will stand cancelled.

Qualifying examinations for Indian students
 Plus two level examination in the 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education of any recognized Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination or State Boards of Secondary Education.
 Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
 General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
 High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University.
 Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in a foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education.
 H.S.C. Vocational Examination approved by NCVT and SCVT of concerned state.
 Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects including English as one of the Subjects, result of which should be available upto 30.09.2016.

Age limit
For candidates from General and OBC categories, upper age limit is 22 years as on 01.07.2016. Candidates born on or after July 01, 1994 are eligible. In the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, upper age limit is 25 years as on 01.07.2016. That is SC/ST candidates born on or after July 01, 1991 are eligible. Upper age limit for Physically Challenged candidates shall be reckoned as per the category he/she belongs to i.e. General/SC/ST/OBC. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/Pre-University Certificate shall be the authentic proof that will be accepted. At the time of counselling, this certificate must be produced in original as a proof of age, failing which the candidate will not be considered for counselling/ admission. 

Important information
Admission to first year of B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration program is strictly based on the All India Rank (AIR) earned by the candidate in the written test of JEE. Ranks are strictly based on the marks obtained by the candidate in written examination. No group discussion or interviews are involved. Counselling involves checking of eligibility of candidates, verification of documents, depositing of counselling and first semester fee and opportunity to opt for choice of Institutes as available at the time of his/her counselling as per his / her AIR. Candidates should give as many choices after careful evaluation of Institutes based on information available in their respective websites. Allotment of Institute shall be as per merit (AIR) and choice of Institute exercised by the candidate. 

How to apply
I. Sale of Application Form and Information Brochure shall commence from 21.12.2015 from affiliated Institutes, NCHMCT OFFICE, NOIDA. Detail shall be available in the Council’s website http://www.nchm.nic.in from the 21. 12.2015 .

Pattern for Written Examination
Duration: 3 hours
1. Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude: 30 Marks
2. Reasoning and Logical Deduction: 30 Marks
3. General Knowledge & Current Affairs: 30 Marks
4. English Language: 60 Marks
5. Aptitude for Service Sector: 50 Marks
 
Total Marks: 200
Question Paper will be bilingual i.e. in English and Hindi (except for English Language). 

Marking Scheme for JEE Written Test
Each correct answer under Numerical Ability & Analytical Aptitude, Reasoning & Logical Deduction, General Knowledge & Current Affairs and English Language components carry one mark. For any wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted. The Graded mark(s) will be awarded under Aptitude for Service Sector component in the following manner; the most appropriate answer carries 1.00, the next appropriate answer carries 0.75, the next to next appropriate answer carries 0.50 whereas the in appropriate answer shall carry negative mark of 0.25 to be deducted.

Merit List
All India merit list of candidates shall be prepared on the basis of marks secured in the JEE Written Test. In case candidates secure equal marks, the merit will be determined as under;
i) Candidate securing higher marks in English component of JEE shall rank higher,
ii) in case of candidates securing equal marks in JEE, as well as in English component of JEE, then the candidate securing higher marks in Service Aptitude Component of JEE shall rank higher,
iii) In case of tie in (i) and (ii) above, the candidate older in age shall rank higher.

Result of Written Test
Result of Written Test shall be announced on the Council’s web site http://www.nchmcounselling.nic.in andhttp://www.nchm.nic.in in the third week of May, 2016. 

Merit Scholarships and Financial Assistance
1. National Council has instituted Merit based Award Scheme with the help of Industry for meritorious students who obtain 1st, 2nd and 3rd position on All India basis in Council’s Annual Examination in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of the course i.e. after completion of both the semesters of the respective year.
2. National Council Merit-cum-means based scholarship scheme is available in the Central Institutes of Hotel Management. The scheme carries 50% refund of semester fee. Details can be obtained from the institute.
3. Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates can avail financial assistance from their respective State Governments for which the concerned Institute will issue studentship certificate indicating fee received from the student.
