Amrita Engg Entrance: Apply by March 21



Kochi: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has invited applications for admission to the 4 year B.Tech. Degree programmes offered in the three campuses at Amritapuri (Kollam), Bengaluru and Ettimadai (Coimbatore). Admission will be based on the Amrita Engineering Entrance Examination (AEEE) to be held in April, 2016. The Courses offered at the three Schools of Engineering are the following.
 
Amritapuri Campus: Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering 
Bengaluru Campus: Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering 
Coimbatore Campus: Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering 
Applications are processed at Coimbatore campus. All B.Tech applications should be sent to the Coimbatore Campus only.

Eligibility for Admission: 
Applicant should have been born on or after 1st July 1995. Applicant should have a pass in 10+2 ( class XII ) or its equivalent securing an aggregate of 60% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with not less than 55% marks in each of these three subjects or should hold a three year Diploma in Engineering with minimum 60% marks, awarded by any State Board of Technical Education. Those who appear for the above examinations in March / April 2016 and expect to secure minimum marks as prescribed may also apply.

The AEEE 2016 is conducted in two different modes, as a Computer Based Test (CBT) and as a Paper & Pencil Based Test (P&P). Applicant can choose any one of the two modes as per their choice, but not both. If an applicant marks both modes, the applications will become invalid and will be rejected.

The duration of Examination will be 2 ½ hours.

The Computer Based Test (CBT) will be held on 17.04.2016 (Sunday), 18.04.2016 (Monday) and 19.04.2016 (Tuesday) with multiple slots. Applicant should mark their first, second and third preference of dates in the application. The number of operating slots will depend on the number of candidates registered in each centre. The allotment of slots / dates will be on first come first served basis. If a candidate does not exercise his / her option, he / she shall be assigned a slot / date as per the availability of the same.

The Paper & Pencil Based Test (P&P) will be conducted from 10 am to 12.30 pm in one slot only on 25.04.2015, Saturday. The list of cities and city codes for Computer Based Test (CBT) and Pen & Paper Based Test (P&P) is given as Annexure I of the B Tech Hand-book that can be downloaded from https://www.amrita.edu/admissions/btech-2016/downloads

Entrance Examination Pattern: 
Paper & Pencil Mode: There will be only one question paper containing 100 objective type questions in Mathematics (40 questions), Physics (30) and Chemistry (30). Each question will be followed by four answers of which only one is correct / most appropriate. The question booklet will be in English. Each correct answer will fetch 3 marks. One mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
 
For Computer Based Test (CBT), it is assumed that the candidate has a basic knowledge about the computer, use of key board and mouse. Candidate should acquire these skills before appearing for CBT. The candidate sits in front of the allotted computer which is connected to the server. The test software presents 100 multiple choice questions on the monitor. The candidate answers the questions in preferred sequence. Candidates in different slots will get different question sets. An expert committee will ensure that the question sets are of comparable standards with respect to content, nature of questions and difficulty level. The decision of the expert committee in this matter will be final and binding on the candidate.

Seat allotment through Counselling will be based on the eligibility and rank obtained by the Candidate in the Amrita Entrance Examination - Engineering 2015. 

How to apply
Application Fee is Rs. 1000/- for CBT as well as P&P. Application can be submitted either online or using printed OMR application form. Applications can be submitted online at https://www.amrita.edu/. To apply online, one will have to register, by creating his/her profile in the Amrita Online Admissions Portal and upload recent colour photograph & signature in the prescribed format and size. The mode of payment has to be chosen. Fee can be paid Online through Net Banking/ Debit/Credit card or Offline by way of Demand Draft for Rs. 1000/- in the name of ‘Amrita School of Engineering’, payable at ‘Coimbatore’ for completing the submission of the online application. After this, applicant may print the completed application on good A4 size white sheet. Those making the payment through DD should send a copy of the printout, along with the DD to ‘Admission Coordinator, Amrita School of Engineering Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritanagar, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu-641112’. Applicants may keep a PDF copy of the application for future reference. 

Printed OMR Application Forms of AEEE-2016 can be obtained from sale outlets of identified Post Office and branches of Dhanlaxmi Bank and Federal Bank, on payment of Rs. 1000/-. The list of outlets is given at http://www.amrita.edu. It can be obtained by post, from the Admission Co-ordinators of Amrita Schools of Engineering at Amritapuri, Bengaluru and Coimbatore, on a written request indicating their full communication address together with a Demand Draft for Rs. 1000/- drawn in favour of ‘Amrita School of Engineering’ payable at Coimbatore. It can also be obtained directly from the University counter of Amrita Schools of Engineering at Amritapuri, Bengaluru and Coimbatore on producing a Demand Draft for Rs. 1000/- drawn in favour of ‘Amrita School of Engineering’ payable at Coimbatore. When a DD is used, applicant should write on the back of the Demand Draft, ‘B.Tech Application’, his / her Name and mobile number. Duly filled-in application form shall be sent in the pre-addressed cover to ‘The Admissions Co-ordinator, Amrita School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, (P.O) Amritanagar, Ettimadai , Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu-641 112’. 

The last date of issue of OMR application form is 19.03.2016 (Saturday). The last date of receiving completed applications (OMR & Online) is 21.03.2016 (Monday). 

Hall Ticket can be downloaded from the University website by entering Application Number and Date of Birth. Hall Ticket will not be sent by post. In order to prove their identity at the examination hall, applicants should produce any of Voter ID Card, Aadhaar Card, ID Card issued by the school last attended or any other authentic document which proves identity.

Candidates shall be present at the examination centre 30 minutes before the commencement of the examination. Candidates must bring black ball point pen, HB pencils, pencil sharpener and eraser. They shall occupy their respective allotted seats at 9.35 am. Candidates will not be admitted to the examination hall 30 minutes after the commencement of examination. Candidates will have to select the correct or most appropriate answer, and shade the corresponding bubble using HB pencil or black ball point pen in the OMR answer sheet.

Rank List will be prepared based on the score in the Entrance Examination 2016 and will be published in the University website within two weeks of the last examination.

Counselling for admission will be in May / June 2016. Counselling schedule will be published in the University website along with rank list of the Entrance Exam. Candidate’s rank as well as counselling call letter will not be sent by post. Candidates are advised to go through the website for the information during the first week of May. The seat allotment is based on rank in AEEE-2016 and eligibility. Counselling will be arranged simultaneously in the three campuses. Candidate can appear for counselling in any one of the three campuses and opt a branch in any campus according to his / her preference and availability of seat. 

A certain percentage of seats in each campus will be earmarked for the candidates who passed 12th class from the respective States in which the University campus is situated. In order to ensure admission to candidates from all States, the maximum intake from any state will be suitably restricted. State from where the candidate studied and passed Plus Two / Higher Secondary will be the criterion for allotment of State based quota of seats and scholarship. Candidate must be physically present for counselling. Parent / Guardian shall accompany the candidate. 

At the time of Counselling, candidates shall produce originals of 10th class certificate to prove Date of Birth, Marks statement of class XII to prove eligibility regarding marks, Hall tickets of class XII Examination & Amrita Entrance Examination-Engg. 2016, Transfer Certificate from the school last attended to prove the ‘State’ where he / she studied ’Plus Two’, Community certificate in case of SC / ST, Other testimonials as specified in the call letter. If the original certificates are not produced by a candidate, he / she will not be permitted to attend the counselling. When a candidate accepts the seat allotment, his / her original certificates will be retained by the University, unless otherwise decided by competent authority. 

Each candidate shall pay Rs. 5000/- by Demand Draft as counselling charges which is non - refundable. Before seat allotment, each candidate has to pay Rs. 50,000/- by demand draft as part of tuition fees. Candidates are required to pay the balance fees and complete all other formalities within the time limit prescribed in the Seat Allotment Order. Request for extension of time for payment of fees will not be entertained. If a candidate fails to remit the fees on or before the stipulated date his / her seat allotment will get automatically cancelled without notice. 

Fee structure for academic year 2016 – 17 is given in the Handbook. 10% of students admitted in each branch are eligible for scholarship in the first year of B.Tech. study in each of the three campuses based on merit. This will be renewed in subsequent years as per the University rules. It is awarded as waiver of tuition fees ranging from 90% to 25% depending on the rank in the Amrita Entrance Examination-Engineering (AEEE) 2016. 

The number of Scholarships awarded under this scheme will be as below: Amritapuri Campus: 48, Bengaluru Campus: 54, Coimbatore Campus : 102. If a scholarship holder under this scheme withdraws after the admission, the next rank holder would be eligible for the scholarship. 

In addition to this, there would be fees waiver based on high ranks in state board exams and CBSE / ICSE exams 2016. The first 3 rank holders of all State Board Examinations are eligible for 90% waiver of Tuition Fees in all the 3 campuses. The first 10 All India Rank Holders of CBSE and the first 10 All India Rank Holders of ICSE are also eligible for 90% waiver of Tuition Fees in all the 3 campuses. 

In order to continue the fees waiver in the subsequent years under the above schemes, the student should maintain Grade Point Average (GPA) of 7.00 in each semester and satisfy the rules framed by the University for the purpose.
