Indian Army has announced important details about the 219th Technical Graduate Course scheduled from July 2014. Here are some of the key details that aspiring candidates need to know.
Indian Army (IA) have issued updates about the 119th Technical Graduate Course (TGC) scheduled from July 2014. The announcement also included the 2nd notification about the TGC 2013.
The Technical Graduate Course is open for male candidates willing to join the Indian Army on permanent commission. Successful candidates who complete the course are awarded with direct entry to the Indian Army.
As per the details published by the IA, TGC 119 will commence in July 2014. Total number of vacancies stand at 100, out of which 20 are in Army Education Corps while 80 are for Engineering graduates.
The age of candidates applying for Army Education Corps must be between 23 to 27 years, meaning they must be born between July 2, 1987 and July 1, 1991. However, those applying for Engineering Graduate posts must belong to the 20-27 year age group (born between July 2,1987 and July 1, 1994).
  • The TGC Engineering Graduate post is only available for engineering graduates who have cleared or appearing in final year of B.E or B.Tech program from a recognized university. However, candidates seeking entry to the Army Education Corps must have a post graduate (PG) degree in English, History, Economics etc.
Admission to Technical Graduate courses will be entirely based on a merit list prepared according to the marks obtained by candidates in their B.E or B.Tech programs. All candidates whose applications forms are accepted, will be shortlisted. Following that, those who make it to the merit list, will be called for SSB interview. After passing the SSB interview, the candidates will be put through extensive medical exam which he must clear in order to get admission into the Indian Military Academy.
Last date to apply 14 December 2013 for both TGC (Engineering Graduates) and Army Education Corps (M.A./M.SC.).

Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), Gandhinagar, the convener of CLAT 2014 has announced the application dates and entrance test dates of the Common Law Admission Test
Official notification will be issued in December 2013 and the Information Brochure and application form will be available from January, 2014

CLAT 2014 Eligibility:

UG Courses: The eligibility criteria for candidates (Indian Nationals only) seeking admission through CLAT-2014 inUndergraduate Courses shall be as per the following:
The candidate by 1st July 2014 must not have attained the age of 20 years in case of General/OBC/Persons with Disability (PWD) and Other category candidates, and 22 years in case of SC/ST category candidates
The candidates must have secured 45% marks in 10+2 or its equivalent
This is 40% in case of SC/ST category
Those appearing in qualifying examination in March/April 2014 are also eligible to apply
PG Courses: The eligibility criteria for candidates (Indian Nationals only) seeking admission through CLAT-2014 in Postgraduate Courses shall be as per the following:
As regards minimum percentage of marks in qualifying examination (i.e., LL.B./Five-Year Integrated LL.B./any other equivalent examination), the candidates must have
55% marks in case belongs to General/OBC/PWD and other category, and
50% marks in case belongs to SC/ST category
Those appearing in qualifying examination in March/April 2014 are also eligible to apply

Exam Pattern:

The CLAT-2014 Question Paper for UG courses shall multiple choice type questions as per the following scheme
Maximum Marks: 200
Duration of CLAT-2014: 02:00 Hours
Total Number of Questions: 200
Negative Marking: 0.25 Mark/wrong answer
Subject areas with weightage
1. English including Comprehension: 40 Marks
2. General Knowledge and Current Affairs: 50 Marks
3. Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability): 20 Marks
4. Legal Aptitude: 50 Marks
5. Logical Reasoning: 40 Marks
The CLAT-2014 Question Paper for PG courses shall have the following pattern:
Maximum Marks: 150
Duration of CLAT-2014: 02:00 Hours
Long Essay Type Descriptive Questions: 100 Mark
Multiple-Choice Questions: 50 Marks (50 questions of 1 mark each)
Negative Marking: 0.25 Mark/wrong answer to MCQ
The long essay type contains 4 questions and 25 marks each pertaining to subject areas such as constitutional Law and Jurisprudence
The Multiple-Choice Questions covers all subjects except Constitutional Law and Jurisprudence prescribed by BCI for Under-Graduate Courses

Admission Procedure:

In case of equal marks secured by candidates, the procedure to break the tie will be as per the following order:
(i) Higher marks in the section of legal aptitude in CLAT-2014
(ii) Higher age
(iii) Computerized draw of lots
Procedure to take admission under the NRI/NRI sponsored seats in various NLUs:
The candidate interested in seeking admission in any of the NLUs under the NRI/NRI sponsored seat shall undertake the CLAT-2014
The admission will be based on the merit in CLAT-2014
The students are also simultaneously required to complete the formalities of the respective universities, if any, for which the candidate need to, contact the respective university of interest for further information

Application Fees:

The candidates has to pay the application fee for general OBC/PWD and other category candidates Rs.4000/- while submitting the Application Form of CLAT-2014
The fee is Rs.3500/- in case of the SC/ST category candidates
The candidates will have to bear the bank transaction costs for remitting the fee online while submitting the application form

The five year integrated Master of Arts (M.A.) programme is designed to meet the needs of students who seek a broader learning forum and who appreciate the unique design of inter-disciplinary studies

A brief description of each stream of the programme is given below

Development studies:

This stream addresses questions of “order and change” in a globalizing world and aims to explore available approaches to fostering development, understood broadly as the goal of providing people the freedom to make their lives better
English studies:
The English Studies stream has been designed for students with sensitivity for literary and linguistic analyses
 It provides an understanding of literatures in English from around the world with special emphasis on current debates in literary theory, lesser-known literatures and the importance of an interdisciplinary approach
Seats: The programme has a total of 46 seats each stream will have 23 seats
Allocations of seats to individual streams will be made based on the academic performance of students (CGPA) during the first 3 semesters, student’s preferences, and availability of seats under each discipline

Eligibility:

Candidates applying for HSEE-2014 should have either completed or should be appearing in 2014 in any one of the following qualifying examinations (QE)
The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized central/state board, such as CBSE, New Delhi, CISCE, New Delhi etc
Intermediate or two year Pre-university examination conducted by a recognized board/university
Final examination of the two year course of the joint services wing of the National Defence Academy
General certificate education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level
High school certificate examination of the Cambridge University
Any public school/board/university examination in India or in any foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system
HSC vocational examination
Senior secondary school examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five Subjects
Percentage of Marks in QE:
The candidates belonging to the general category and OBC (CL/NCL) must secure a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination
Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PD categories must secure a minimum of 55% in aggregate in the qualifying examination
If any board awards only letter grades without providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the board specifying equivalent marks, and submit it at the time of joining
In case, such a certificate is not provided by the candidate, the decision of the HSEE Admission Committee regarding his/her eligibility shall be final
Age Limit: A candidate, whose date of birth falls on or after 01st Oct 1989, is eligible for HSEE-2014
However, in the case of SC/ST/PD candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, (candidates belonging to these categories/subcategories born on or after 01st Oct 1984 are eligible)
The date of birth as recorded in the High School (10th/12th Std.) First Board/Pre-University certificate will be taken as authentic
Foreign Nationals: Admission to the M.A. program for all foreign nationals will be made through HSEE-2014 only
The eligibility requirements for foreign nationals will be same as those meant for the general category candidates in India
Exam Centres: The entrance exam will be conducted on 20th Apr 2014, Sunday, 10.00 a.m. to 01.00 p.m. in the following cities
Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Thiruvananthapuram
The address of an exam centre for a candidate will be mentioned in the admit card, which can be generated online
Admit Card: After successful registration and payment of required fee through bank challan/demand draft, the candidates can download their admit card for HSEE-2014 from 17th Mar 2014, 10.00 a.m.onwards upto 17th Apr 2014, 05.00 p.m. from the HSEE-2014 website http://hsee.iitm.ac.in
The admit card will bear the name, photograph, date of birth, address and category of the candidate along with name and the address of the HSEE-2014 centre
The candidate should carefully examine the admit card for all the entries made therein
Merit List: Rank list will be prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained in HSEE-2014
A common rank list made up of candidates who score at least 50% in HSEE-2014 will be prepared
Separate rank lists will be prepared corresponding to OBC (NCL)/SC/ST/PD categories
Candidates of OBC (NCL) category must score at least 45% in HSEE-2014 exam in order to be in the OBC rank list
Candidates of SC/ST categories must score at least 25% in the HSEE-2014, in order to be in their respective rank lists
A common rank list will be prepared for PwD candidates
To be in the PwD rank list, candidates must score at least 25% in the HSEE-2014 exam in aggregate
The ranks/scores of the candidates will be available for viewing in the HSEE website on 14th May, 2014

Application Form

Application for the HSEE-2014 is only through online mode
Registration: Log on to the website http://hsee.iitm.ac.in and select from the menu apply online and follow the instructions on the website
Enter all the data as per the instructions
The website will prompt you to save your data on the system when necessary
After successfully entering the data, click the finalize button
After this, you cannot edit your application
The system will then generate a printed version of your application along with the Indian Bank Challan
Registration is complete only after the payment of examination fee
Exam Fee: Candidates must pay the examination fee as applicable through the challan (generated during registration process) of Indian Bank
The examination fee for General/OBC (NCL) male candidates is Rs.1600/-
The examination fee for SC/ST/PwD male candidates is Rs 800/-
In addition, a processing fee of Rs 10/- will be collected by the bank
There is no examination fee for female candidates of all categories
Payment: Go to any branch of the Indian Bank and pay the examination fees by the challan generated online
Mention/check your application number on both the copies of the challan generated during the online application registration process
Alternatively, you may pay the examination fee through demand draft, in case there is no Indian Bank branch in your place
The demand draft should be drawn in favor of “IIT Madras HSEE-2014”, payable at Chennai and the bank charges will be borne by you
Send the completed application form, an attested copy of your 10th/10+2 certificate/date of birth certificate, an attested copy of category certificate, if applicable, and the institute copy of the Indian Bank challan or demand draft in an A4 size envelope and post it by speed post or registered post to the Chairman, HSEE-2014, JEE Office, IIT Madras, Chennai-600036 on or before 27th Jan 2014, 05.00 p.m.
Candidates should check the HSEE website for the status of their applications after 14th Feb 2014

The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) has announced the B.Tech 2014 Admissions dates. The candidates have to qualify in both JEE Main 2014 and JEE Advanced 2014 to eligible for admissions to the B.Tech programmes in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics and Physical Sciences for the Academic year 2014 to eligible Indian citizens at the B.Tech programmes at the institute

Courses Offered:

Aerospace Engineering
Aerospace Engineering programme includes foundation level courses in Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Aerodynamics, Flight Mechanics, Solid Mechanics and Material Science, and applied courses in Propulsion systems, Aerospace structures and Precision manufacturing processes for launch vehicles, aircrafts and spacecrafts
B.Tech - Avionics
Avionics programme covers courses in Electronics Electrical Engineering that includes Control system, Digital Electronics, VLSI, MEMS design, Communication and Computer systems with thrust on aerospace vehicle and satellite system, flight navigation systems, satellite communication, microwave and antenna engineering
B.Tech - Physical Sciences
Physical Sciences programme has been designed to cater to the science requirements of the country in general and space research in particular
The curriculum include foundation and advanced level courses on Applied Mathematics, Classical and Modern Physics as well as courses in the areas of space science such as Astronomy & Astrophysics, Remote Sensing and Earth System Sciences

Eligibility:

Candidates must make sure that they satisfy the criteria given below for applying for admission to B.Tech Programmes in IIST
Citizenship:
Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for admission in IIST
Date of Birth:
Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 01st Oct 1989 are eligible
The SC/ST and PwD Candidates must have born on or after 01st Oct 1984
Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate will only be considered
Qualifying Exam (10+2 or Equivalent):
Candidates seeking admission to IIST should have passed their Qualifying Examination, with Physic, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects of the curium
Candidates belonging to GEN and OBC categories must secure an aggregate of at least 70% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) in the qualifying examination and those belonging to SC/ST/PD should have an aggregate of at least 60% marks in PCM subjects in the qualifying examination
Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th/any other Qualifying examination in order to be eligible for writing JEE (Main)
In the year 2014 however, the candidates who have taken four subjects are also permitted to write JEE 2014 as an exception

CBSE prepares All-India rank list giving 60% weightage to the score in JEE (Main) examination and 40% weightage to the normalized score in Class 12th qualifying examination and is expected to be published by07th July 2014

The rank list for admission to IIST will be based on 60 % weightage of score in the Joint Entrance Examination JEE (Main) - 2014 conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and 40 % of normalized score in Class 12th or other qualifying examinations
