Jamia begins UG admissions process

 : The Jamia Hamdard University has began its admissions process for various undergraduate programmes for the academic session 2013-14, it announced Saturday.

The prospectus and application forms for all professional and non-professional courses offered by various faculties and centres of Jamia Millia Islamia for the academic session 2013-14 are available on the website, the university said in a release.

Applicants can download the application forms from the university website. The forms will also be available at counters of M/s Maktaba Jamia Ltd. on the university campus on all working days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., it added.

The entrance test for various courses will commence from June and continue till July.

The Entrance Tests schedule for the following professional courses is:

B.A. (Hons.) Hotel Management, Travel and Tourism - 12 June 2013

KEAM : Above one lakh appear on first day

 The first paper of Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination went off well throughout the state. Students opined that the paper was easier compared to previous years. The first paper comprised of Physics and Chemistry while Maths exam will be held on Tuesday.

Out of a total 108,920 students who had applied for the exam 101,020 students have written it on the first day. This is 92.7 percentage, said Entrance Commissioner BS Mavoji. Entrance exam for the medical allied cources will be held on 23rd and 24th April. MBBS/BDS admission in the state is based on NEET UG which is to be held on 5th May.

Technicians : Minimum 5 years experience as Technicians with an authorized dealership. Candidates must be diploma holder in Automobile Engineering or equivalent. Should be able to carry out all kinds of repair jobs including diagnosing faults and be familiar using scanners and diagnosing tools.
Team Leaders : Must be a diploma holder in automobile engineering, preferably with a bachelor degree. Candidates should have high technical knowledge and hands on experience. Excellent communication skills in English and good leadership skills are pre-requisites. Should be well versed with workshop procedures and ensure excellent workmanship and quality repair, providing guidance on the team members.
Parts Advisor : Diploma in Automobile engineering or Graduate with minimum 5 years experience as Parts Advisors/Parts Sales Executives. Should have excellent communication skills in English and be familiar using Electronic Parts Catalogues. Be target oriented with excellent salesmanship and familiar with warranty related issues.
Service Advisor : Diploma in Automobile engineering or Graduate with minimum 5 years experience as Service Advisor with an authorized dealership. Should have excellent communication and be an active listener to understand customer concerns. Candidates must be familiar with service process and should possess very good Repair Order writing skills. Must be able to work under pressure.

Painter : Responsible for carrying out painting on the customers’ vehicles with recommended standards and procedures. Should have experience in color blending and mixing to match the rest of the vehicle color. Incumbent should have at least 3 years experience as painter with an authorized dealership. Qualification - S.S.C./Trade Certificate/Vocational Training.

Denter : Responsible for carrying out body repairs on the customer’s vehicles with recommended standards and procedures. Candidates should have experience in Mig, Brass, Aluminium, Spot welding. Should be able to carry out removal & refitting of panels, panel bracing and moulding of metal sheets. Incumbent should have at least 3 years experience as Denter with an authorized dealership. Qualification - S.S.C./Trade Certificate/Vocational Training.

From my experience of working in villages believe me its a different ball game. Addressing just education in villages is not enough, you have to look into health, sanitation, livelihood etc. all the factors before asking a kid to come to school regularly.

Here is an opportunity to understand the real India, majority of India, the villages - Bharat ! Come and understand the villages before you draft a solution for entire country. For me talking about development of Nation without going to villages does not make sense.

This is regarding Youth Alliance’s initiative “Gramya Manthan” (Rural Immersion Program). Youth Alliance is an organization working with a vision to “Connect EACH Youth With a Cause”. We aim to build a movement of young leaders equipped to meet India’s problems by designing processes to identify young individuals with a spark to think innovatively for the larger social good. We do this by conducting programs where they get experiential exposure in both urban and rural space to identify their passion.

About Gramya Manthan ( Rural Immersion Program):

Gramya Manthan (Rural Immersion Program) aims at bridging the gap between India and Bharat. It will select 50 most amazing hearts from the country and take them on a rural exploration. The idea is to make youth realize the pressing issues of our country, it will help them understand the problems of our villages and execute solution during the course of program.

Gramya Manthan is dedicated to developing social leaders; well-rounded youngsters who are equipped with leadership skills to solve the challenges faced by Indian villages. Its core aim is to ignite young hearts with holistic concern for their society and nation.

The last Gramya Manthan saw participation from across the country with participants from 11 states who internalized the problems of the villages and came up with implementable solutions in education and livelihood. Youth Alliance has helped alumnus establish a livelihood center, "Swaraj" as well as a learning center "Kilkari" in the villages which has helped build trust and confidence in the process. Our another alumni Manoranjan started "Ek PAHAL" is an enterprise in Kashi, Bihar with a mission to impact the lives of students, enabling them to maximize their potential by reforming education.

National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS) Bangalore Admission to PhD Programme 2013-14

 

The National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS) is a unique Indian institution conducting multidisciplinary research in areas that bridge the gap between the natural and engineering sciences, social sciences, humanities and the arts. A limited number of research scholarships are available in the Institute for bright and committed postgraduate students interested in pursuing independent research across disciplines towards a doctoral degree.

The scholarships are open to those who have completed / are completing a Master's/M.Phil. degree in any relevant subject in natural sciences, engineering, mathematics, social sciences, humanities or the arts, and with a consistently proven academic record (minimum 55% marks). Some research and/or field experience in the concerned areas will be preferred. Candidates
who have passed the NET/ SET examinations or qualified for JRF/ DST/ CSIR/ ICSSR fellowships will be preferred.

Candidates admitted to the NIAS Doctoral Programme will be entitled tofellowships, which will be available for a period of four years on a yearly renewable basis. The fellowship amount is fixed at Rs.16,000/- per month for the first two years and Rs.18,000/- per month from the third year, with an additional 30% per month as House Rent Allowance. Limited hostel seats are
available on campus.

Applications should be made on plain paper, including a curriculum vitae, copies of mark sheets and degree certificates (to be verified at the time of interview) and a clear statement of purpose detailing the research interests of the candidate and explaining why she/he would like to join NIAS. Explicit mention must be made of the research areas for which the application is
being sent.
